The New York State Education Department has received a proposal from GED Testing Service (GEDTS) to provide the GED® test as the state's High School Equivalency (HSE) exam, beginning in 2022. The Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC Test™) is being discontinued as of 12/31/21.
Students will enter the world of design, learning the concepts, principles, and the processes of how to create amazing works of art using the various Adobe programs. While learning to be great designers, students will prepare to pass the Adobe Photoshop industry certification. students will also build a professional portfolio composed of many works of art such as brochures, posters, flyers, and logos that are sure to impress employers. This course will prepare students for entry-level positions at graphic design companies and other jobs related to graphic design.
The Automotive Technology course will introduce participants to the main areas of a motor vehicle such as engine performance, brakes, steering and suspensions, electrical applications, and maintenance and light repair. Participants will also practice safety protocols and operation of industry equipment and tools. Also, participants will be introduced to diagnostic procedures and the use of diagnostic scan tools and multi-meters to address troubleshooting measures. Industry Certification: Snap-On, ASE
Students will learn about the architecture, structure, functions, and components of the Internet. They will learn how to build, configure, and troubleshoot computer and wireless networks, including router and switch configurations. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to configure and troubleshoot different types of networks that involve wireless security and Cloud technology. Consumer smart-device networking is also incorporated to complete the study of converged technology concepts. The course is designed to prepare individuals to take the CISCO Cisco Certified Technician (CCT) and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) exams. This course prepares students to obtain entry-level positions in the IT industry.

Students will also learn how to install, configure, and troubleshoot PC and mobile device operating systems, as well as common functions in networking, wireless technology, email, and security. The course is geared towards passing the A+ Certification exam, which can lead to an entry-level position in Information Technology (Helpdesk, Support Technician)
This course is designed to provide students with the necessary skills required to obtain employment as an Electrician's Helper. Students will learn the basic concepts of electrical theory and basic blueprint drawings with a strong focus on residential and commercial type wiring, to include installing various circuits, conduit bending, and threading. Upon completion of this course, students can pursue a career with various unions such as the New York City Transit Authority (MTA) and/or the Local 3 IBEW Electrical union, or areas in the field of construction. It is recommended that students take the 30-Hour OSHA Construction certificate.
This course uses an interdisciplinary approach to introduce students to the four fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in order to raise awareness, improve knowledge, develop problem-solving skills, and possibly spark an interest in pursuing a career in STEM. STEM history, fundamental ideas, applications, procedures, and concepts will be exposed to students. Students will study and analyze some of the world's challenges that still exist today, as well as some of the notable discoveries and advancements in STEM. Students learn how to use a variety of computer programs to evaluate and present technical and scientific data. They will also achieve a high level of success. They'll also have a better knowledge of how images and measurements are used in everyday life. Finally, students will investigate the types of problem-solving procedures that are commonly employed in various fields. Industry Certification: OSHA 10-Hour
The IT Specialist course focuses on the fundamentals, concepts, and technologies of computers (desktop / laptops / mobile devices), printers (inkjet / laser), networking, and security. Participants will learn to assemble / disassemble and confiture computer systems as well as maintaining, diagnosing, and troubleshooting common IT related issues. Participants will also install and navigate an operating system, identify the elements of the troubleshooting process, and understand basic networking concepts. Virtual learning tools will be used to provide an interactive "hands-on" experience. Industry Certification: Certiport IC3
The Medical Assisting program helps students develop a complete understanding of the medical profession, and the clinical and administrative skills necessary to work in the healthcare field. Topics in the curriculum include infection control, assisting in physical examinations, urinalysis, ECG / EKG testing, venipuncture, physiotherapy, patient reception, appointment scheduling, office safety, telephone, and written communication, medical insurance, and office management. This course incorporates three different career aspects that are vital in any medical practice: the electronic health records technician, medical administrative assistant, and the billing and coding specialist. Health care providers rely on the information in a patient's medical records in order to diagnose and treat the patient successfully. Throughout this course, students will learn medical administrative assistant functions for a hospital or clinic through their knowledge of medical terminology and applications. Students will also learn the fundamentals of the healthcare revenue cycle by creating precise service and billing records. At the completion of this course, students will be able to take the AMCA Billing and Coding Specialist Certification.
This course is intended to provide instruction to entry-level participants on a variety of construction and general industry safety and health standards. This outreach effort is aimed at promoting workplace safety and health. Students have the opportunity to receive the 10-hour General Industry or 30-Hour Construction certificates.
Students will learn how to read blueprints, basic and advanced shield metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, oxy fuel cutting, plasma arc cutting and fabrication. This course is geared towards passing the NYS Department of Transportation Field Welders 3G and 4G certifications as well as the FDNY Certificate of Fitness F-60 and G-60. Students will be prepared for positions in local labor unions as well as immediate employment as a welder.
